Our achievers celebrated

Tuesday 8th February, 2011

Eight Open Access Students were among the many students invited to the SACE Merit Ceremony at Government House to congratulate them on achieving a Merit (20/20) in one or more subjects in their South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) results in 2010.

Achiever's Ceremony 2011

Several students also attended an Open Access Ceremony held at our Marden Campus, which was held to celebrate the achievements of not only the Merit students but also those 146 OAC students who received “A”s in one or more subjects and the 3 students who achieved Outstanding Achievements in Community Studies. Kirra Burgess gave a very inspiring talk about her experience at OAC and her tips to success at distance education.

133 Open Access Students, all who received one or more As in their studies, were invited to receive an award to recognise their achievements. A booklet of selected student achievers was also made available at the ceremony, as is now available on this website.

What did these students do to be successful?

All of the students who achieved outstanding results used the following strategies:
  • They all set goals like:
    1. I am going to get an A or
    2. I am going to get a 20 or
    3. I am going to do my very best
  • These students were persistent. They would not give in, if they didn’t get it the first time round, they had another go, they sought help from friends, family, teachers.
  • They were always organised. They had done all the pre lesson and follow up work for a lesson.

Are you going to be successful?

  • What are your goals?
  • Will you keep trying?
  • Who will be your support network?
  • How can you be sure to keep up with the work?
