How to work in Distance Education
We have developed a range of flexible teaching methods,
including the use of the latest technology, to help
you through your study. These include:
- participation in weekly telephone lessons, usually
with a small number of other students in a conference
call, or video conference. This provides interaction
between students as well as with the teacher. Access
to a hands-free phone is desirable.
- specialised course booklets and materials designed
for distance education
- custom designed support material for courses, including
CDs, VCDs, audio-tapes and kits
- a range of Information and Communication Technologies
including email and subject web sites
- face-to-face teaching through workshops, mini-schools
and camps.
Students have access to a range of support from teachers
and counsellors. Teachers are just an email or phone
call away and are happy to help you if you have questions
between weekly telephone lessons.
Computer and Internet Access
Many subjects have additional resources and communication
activities on subject web sites. Email is an efficient
communication tool for teachers and students.
It is recommended students have access to a computer
and the internet to take advantage of online features.
