Upcoming Event: Acknowledgment of Country Creation

Acknowledgment

Friday 25th October 2024 - Week 2, Term 4

We are excited to invite all our students to participate in a special event focused on creating and recording your own Acknowledgment of Country. This experience will deepen your understanding of and respect for our shared history while supporting our school’s Reconciliation Action Plan. The filming session will allow us to develop a video to be used at future Face-To-Face events. Enabling us to recognise and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the land on which we learn and diversity of our community.

Morning Session:

During this engaging workshop, students will work together to craft their personalised Acknowledgment of Country. This session will encourage them to reflect on the significance of Country and the diverse cultures that have flourished here for thousands of years. Acknowledging whose land we are on is an important practice that fosters respect, understanding, and a sense of belonging within our community.

Afternoon Filming Session (Optional):

For those who feel comfortable, we will also be running an important filming session in the afternoon. Here, students can share their Acknowledgment in front of the camera in groups or individually. We understand that some students may experience anxiety about this, so participation in the afternoon session is entirely voluntary. We encourage everyone to join the morning workshop, regardless of their decision about filming.

This event is a wonderful chance for all students to connect with their community, learn from each other, and appreciate the importance of acknowledging the traditional custodians of the land on which we learn. Allowing us all to take part in reconciliatory action.

Invitations to the event will be sent out shortly.
