Midla Kuu

Midla Kuu

Join us at Midla Kuu — meaning ‘Launch’ in Kaurna — to celebrate the new Aboriginal names of our Open Access College buildings, recognising culture, language, and reconciliation.

Kaurna Names for our buildings at the Marden Campus

As part of our Reconciliation Action Plan, we have renamed our buildings in the Kaurna language to honour the Traditional Custodians of the land. Each name reflects the purpose and spirit of the activities that take place in these spaces, fostering a sense of belonging and respect for all.

The following contain the explanation and pronounciation of each of the names for our buildings:

Hall: Irra Karrinthi Kuu - Unity and shared purpose.

Student Services: Yara Kuu - Mutual respect and care.

Studio Building: Palti Kuu - Dance, storytelling, and collaboration.

Teaching Area 1: Warra Kuu - Language and communication.

Teaching Area 2: Ngutu Kuu - Teaching and instruction.

Teaching Area 3: Taa Tarrkinthi Kuu - Openness and accessibility.

Teaching Area 4: Tirkanthi Kuu - Lifelong learning and growth.
