Middle Years (7-9)

Students in the Middle Years are provided with learning that is relevant, purposeful and connected.

The essential elements of the Middle Years program are:

  • starting from the students' prior knowledge
  • learning to learn, learning to think
  • collaborative team approach – teachers and students
  • focus on relationships between students and teachers
  • cross-curricular, interdisciplinary and integrated learning approaches
  • authentic assessment, product orientated learning, exhibitions of learning, real life contexts

Students undertake Progressive Assessment Tests (PAT) in term 3.

Each class stays together for Science, English, History, Health and care group.

There are 11 scheduled lessons a week for the core.

In addition to the core subjects students will also develop specialised skills in one or more of the following:

  • Languages
  • The Arts
  • Technologies
  • Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS)
