National Apology Day 13 February

Honouring The Stolen Generations

Open Access College celebrates the 11th anniversary of the National Apology.

On Wednesday 13 February, a public event marking the National Apology is held at Veale Gardens on South Terrace. The event focuses on healing and features Kaurna Welcome to Country, Smoking Ceremony, music, art, storytelling and a community BBQ.

The Apology to Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the House of Representatives occurred on 13 February 2008. The Apology related to past laws, policies and practices that have impacted on Australia’s First Nations Peoples, particularly members of the Stolen Generations.

The flyer for the public event can be downloaded in the Documents & Downloads area of this page.
