Parent & Carer Committee Opportunities — Have Your Say at OAC

9

Open Access College is seeking expressions of interest from parents and carers who would like to serve as representatives on a number of school committees in 2026.

Parent and carer voice plays a vital role in strengthening our school community and ensuring our decisions reflect the needs, perspectives, and experiences of the families we work with. These committees will provide an opportunity to collaborate with school leaders and staff to shape key areas of school practice and community engagement.

At this time, we are inviting parent/carer expressions of interest for the following committees:

  • Anti Racism at OAC
  • Guidelines for AI Use
  • Face-to-Face Events

Anti Racism at OAC Committee

This committee will meet to implement DfE policy with regard to anti-racism and the prevention of discrimination in schools. We are seeking parent and student representation. The group will meet twice a term for an hour in the aim of developing guidelines and procedures that the school community can follow.

Guidelines for AI Use Committee

This committee will support the development of clear, practical guidelines for the use of artificial intelligence at Open Access College. As a parent/carer representative, you will have the opportunity to contribute to:

  • Defining appropriate and ethical use of AI in learning and assessment
  • Considering student safety, privacy and academic integrity
  • Providing a parent/carer perspective on fairness, access and transparency
  • Supporting students to develop responsible and informed AI use skills

Face to Face Events Committee

This committee will play an important role in shaping meaningful, engaging events that bring our school community together. As a parent/carer representative, you will have the opportunity to contribute to:

  • The types and frequency of face-to-face events
  • Shaping norms and protocols around school events
  • Providing a parent/carer perspective on accessibility, inclusivity, and engagement
  • Advising on communication and promotion to families
  • Offering feedback to support continuous improvement of events
