Using the Library Resources

As we move to the end of a busy term 1 we are pleased to report we have been keeping the postie busy sending out a range of resources to students. It has also been wonderful meeting up with OAC students either online or face-to-face when you visit. For students in senior school, tests have started to be part of the required work and we are here to support those who come in and use the library when they are doing their tests. We have a number of rooms and spaces available for you to use.

Holiday Reading & the Premier’s Reading Challenge

The upcoming holidays are a great opportunity to get some reading done and to add the books you read to your PRC form. You can download the form for your year level at the Library Page on the OAC website. Go to the Library page. Just scroll down to the bottom of the page and download the form for your year level. Completed forms need to be returned to the Library by September. Please contact the Library if you would like resources sent out.

Britannica Online

All students have access to Britannica - a safe, up-to-date and age appropriate information resource. The site gives access to a range of resources including encyclopaedia articles, videos, magazine articles and much more. You can access Britannica from the Library Page on the OAC website. Go to the Library page. You log on with the usename marden and the password library. Then choose either the Primary, Middle or High School level and you are ready to use the resources available there. On the Home page before you log in, you are also able to download a brochure that gives extra information.

National Simultaneous Storytime

This annual event will be held on 22 May this year. We will be joining in with over 1 million others around Australia reading the same book at the same time. More information will be available closer to the event.

Displays and other Activities Happening in the Library

During Term 1 we have organised a range of displays to promote various events; for example in the second part of the term we have organised displays to promote Harmony Day and the celebration of diversity and Autisum Awareness month. Other displays have promoted aspects of the library collection, for example graphic novels and new titles. Photos of our displays and other library events are up on the @mardenlibrary Twitter account. We have plenty of jigsaws to use and 3D Lighthouse has been a recent favourite.
