Book Week

The Book Week theme for 2018 is “Find Your Treasure”. We know there are many treasures in our library. Library staff have organised displays and other activities for students to take part in, either in lessons or assembly sessions. And it is an opportunity to meet the library staff wearing their book faces (pictured above).

Premier's Reading Challenge

The Challenge is nearly over for 2018. Please return your forms listing the 12 books you have read or had read to you, to the library by 30th August. If you need another copy of the form, they are available from the library page on the OAC website.

Go to https://www.openaccess.edu.au/about-oac/library and scroll down to the bottom of the page for extra PRC information as well as the forms. Please send your PRC forms to the library by post or by email to library@openaccess.edu.au

We hope to have a record number of students completing the PRC in 2018.

Australian Reading Hour

There is another book/reading event happening on 20th September when The Australian Reading Hour will be encouraging us to 'Make a Date with a Book'. We hope all students and their families get involved and read for an hour at some point on 20th September.

Library Displays and other activities

During Science Week we experimented with test tubes, food colouring and white flowers to see if we could make a rainbow of plants for the library. Students and staff have been encouraged to Read around the World with books and model transport options to inspire.

At the entrance to the library students are reminded the “knowledge is free in this library – you just need to bring your own container”. Photos of the various displays are available from following us on Twitter (@mardenlibrary) or on the library webpage.

Library Services

Term 3 is a busy term for assignments etc. so please contact the library for any assistance in finding or using the range of resources we have available. Many of these resources are available online via the Library link on the OAC website. By clicking on the Library link you can access the library catalogue, and a range of other sites including Clickview, databases and online magazines from Flipster.

Library staff are available to assist students and parent/supervisors either by email, phone, an instant WebEx session or in person.

Visit or Contact us!

If you are able to make it in to Marden, please visit us in the library and meet the staff and check out the resources! It is always great to catch up with students and their families when you can come in to meet with teachers, do a test or for a Come In Day event. We also enjoy catching up with others via email, phone or online.

If you would like to organise resources or become involved in one of the library events, please contact us.

Our phone numbers are (08) 8309 3620 or (08) 8366 2822 or use the 1800 882 328 number and ask for the library.

You can also email library@openaccess.edu.au and follow us on Twitter @mardenlibrary
