Movie Review from a Year 7 Student

Solo: A Star Wars Story is a 2018, PG-13 sci-fi, action & adventure film which is the second spin-off from the main line of Star Wars films. The film takes place in a world where there’s a high demand for hyperfuel, where Han Solo (played by Alden Ehrenreich) finds himself trying to cash in on the surge.

Han forcefully includes himself in a risky heist, where he meets a soon to be co-pilot Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo) and Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover) years before the rebellion. Han then goes on to risk his life for the fuel to give him a payout that will hopefully get him a ship to save his girlfriend Qi’ra (Emilia Clarke) from the criminal underworld.

Solo is an exciting adventure with breathtaking moments but ends up falling short at some points with its story. Regardless of the plots lackluster feel with its twists, Solo makes up for its story with a great cast and beautiful visuals. Whether you’re watching Han escape a dark city underworld or watching him fight marauders on a bullet train, there is always something to catch your eye in the moment.

Accompanied by a great cast, Solo makes you feel like you’re in the city underbelly of a vast universe, with Donald Glover taking you to the black market and Alden Ehrenreich taking you on a rebellious adventure. Solo is an exhilarating sci-fi adventure, although flawed at points, it’s still an adventure worth taking whether you’re a new comer or long-time fan of the series.

I give the film 8/10.
