Strengthening Learning from Reception to Year 10

OAC Website T3 1

Every child deserves a clear, connected and high-quality learning experience.

That is why South Australian public schools are introducing the SA Curriculum for Public Education for reception to year 10.

The SA Curriculum sets out the learning that matters most for children and young people across the 8 learning areas. It is aligned with the Australian Curriculum Version 9 and has been designed to better connect teaching, learning, assessment and reporting.

This is an important step in strengthening learning for every student — helping children build strong knowledge, develop important skills and grow as confident, capable learners.

During 2027, schools will be provided with time and support to become familiar with the curriculum and begin introducing it in a thoughtful way. At Open Access College, we will begin activating the SA Curriculum in a way that best supports our learners. In 2027, we will be using the SA curriculum across all learning areas and year levels to year 10. Teachers will collaborate to strengthen classroom planning, teaching evidencing and assessing learning, while linking this work to our school’s focus on student wellbeing and developing the attributes of effective learners. This approach will help us make learning clear, connected and meaningful for all students.

From 2028, all South Australian public schools will use the SA Curriculum across reception to year 10.
