Students Visit Urrbrae Wetlands

Urrbrae

Students visited Urrbrae Wetlands to conduct a field investigation as part of Stage 2 Earth and Environmental Science.

Wetlands provide a very important process within an ecosystem – they are a natural filtration system. Urrbrae Wetlands was created to capture urban stormwater, filter it through the wetlands which removes pollution before releasing it back into waterways. This process ensures that the water then released in our local beaches is free of pollution.

Students collected primary data on the quality of the water entering the wetlands compared to the water released back into waterways to ensure Urrbrae wetlands was working as expected.
