Year 9 Excursion to State Library

State Library

In week 9 of term 1, a group of year 9 students attended the Coo-ee Digger workshop at the State Library on North Terrace.

This involved learning about the experiences of soldiers and others in the First World War which ties in with our This Means War unit. We got to go down in to the archives and see some primary sources including a diary from an ANZAC soldier, and we even got to try on trench coats and nurse/sailor outfits!

After this we walked to the War Memorial on Kintore Avenue, then down to some other memorials including one to Vietnam and one to Indigenous Australian soldiers.

It was great to see so many students be brave and come along, and all involved had a great time. We look forward to seeing even more for the combined year 9/10 event in term 2 (contact your class teacher to find out more!).
