Who is this course for?

This course is designed for students who enjoy a selection of creating and responding to texts and are interested in critical analysis of a range of texts.

It is preferable that students who undertake this course have successfully completed Stage 1 English A or equivalent.

NOTE: Completion of this course with C grade or higher meets part of the compulsory literacy component of SACE.

This course leads to Stage 2 English.

What will I learn?

Students will develop their communication, language, and critical literacy skills by creating and responding to a range of texts, including:

  • Texts – novella or film
  • Creation Task
  • Comparative writing
  • Persuasive presentation (oral or multimodal)

How will I be assessed?

Students will demonstrate evidence of their learning through the following:

  • Assessment Type 1: Responding to Texts (25%)
  • Assessment Type 2: Creating Texts (50%)
  • Assessment Type 3: Intertextual Study (25%)

For a 10-credit subject, students will provide evidence of their learning through four assessments, with at least one assessment from each assessment type. At least one assessment will be an oral or multimodal presentation, and at least one will be in written form.
