Who is this course for?

Students interested in doing Stage 1 Mathematics Methods or Stage 1 Mathematics Methods and Specialist Mathematics. This course allows time for students to explore content they may not have studied deeply in Year 10 Mathematics and to refine skills and concepts needed in Stage 1.

What will I learn?

You will have the opportunity to apply your learning in new ways, and to practice the skills required for writing folio tasks.

The topics covered are:

  • Geometry .
  • Trigonometry
  • Linear Relationships
  • Non-linear Relationships.
  • Surds.

How will I be assessed?

The assessment types will model what happens in SACE. There will be a mixture of:

  • Skills and Applications Tasks (also known as tests).
  • At least one Mathematical Investigation (also known as a folio task).

You will be assessed against the Year 10 and Year 10A Mathematics Australian Curriculum standards.
