Students wishing to explore the practical aspects of English, such as communicating personal and social identity, and in vocational environments.
NOTE: Completion of this course with C grade or higher meets part of the compulsory literacy component of SACE.
This course leads to Stage 2 Essential English.
You will read, listen, speak, respond to and compose texts, to establish and maintain connections with familiar and unfamiliar personal, social, cultural and/or vocational contexts.
You may have the opportunity to negotiate tasks which are relevant to your situation. These may include analysing the language of web sites, writing narratives, evaluating and redesigning workplace instructional texts, composing an oral presentation, reviewing a film, creating poetry or lyrics.
Assessment will be based on:
At least one assessment should be an oral or multimodal presentation, and at least one should be in written form.
