This subject is for students not intending to study English at Stage 2. It provides opportunities to develop skills in literacy and understanding familiar and unfamiliar text types that students encounter in life after schooling.
NOTE: Completion of this course with C grade or higher meets part of the compulsory literacy component of SACE.
You will read, listen, speak, respond to and compose texts, to develop communication skills in familiar and unfamiliar personal, social, cultural and vocational contexts.
You will have opportunities to choose from a range of topics and tasks that support your specific social, vocational and literacy needs.

For a 10-credit subject, students should provide evidence of their learning through four assessments, with at least one assessment from each assessment type. At least one assessment should be an oral or multimodal presentation, and at least one should be in written form.
