Sunday February 13 was the anniversary of the Apology to the Stolen Generations.

On this important date in 2008, Kevin Rudd - then Primer Minister of Australia - made a formal apology to First Nations people and the Stolen Generations. The Stolen Generations are the First Nations children and young people who were removed from their families between 1910 and 1970.

The Apology:

“We apologise for the laws and policies of successive Parliaments and governments that have inflicted profound grief, suffering and loss on these our fellow Australians. We apologise especially for the removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families, their communities and their country.” - Kevin Rudd.
