Science Week 2025 - MOD Excursion

As part of Science Week 2025, students in years 7 - 10 are invited to participate in an excursion to the Australian Space Discovery Centre, South Australian Museum, and Museum of Discovery (MOD) on North Terrace, Adelaide.
This excursion is an opportunity for students to explore this year’s Science Week theme of “Decoding the Universe” through a private school session at the Australian Space Discovery Centre, a teacher-guided tour of the SA Museum, and MOD’s new exhibition “FOREVER”.
Date: Friday 29th August 2025
Time: 9:50am - 2:00pm
Session times / program:
9:50am - Meet at Community, the cafe in front of the Australian Space Discovery Centre
10:00 - 11:30am - Australian Space Discovery Centre
11:30 - 11:45am - Walk down North Terrace to the SA Museum
11:45am - 12:30pm - SA Museum
12:30pm - 1:00pm - Lunch break, walk or catch the tram to MOD
1:00pm - 2:00pm - Exhibition "FOREVER" at MOD
2:00PM - Dismissal from the MOD atrium
Complete the EdSmart consent form by Wednesday 27th of August.
Students to bring: Recess, Lunch, drink bottle and appropriate walking shoes.
Photos may be taken by staff at this event and published on our website and Facebook page. If you have returned a media consent form at enrolment for 2025, no further action is needed. You can confirm whether a media consent form is on file by checking the Daymap Connect Parent Portal. In line with our mobile phone policy, students will not be able to use their mobile phones during the event. When they arrive, they will be asked to place their phone in a Yondr Pouch, which they will receive when they arrive at the event. The pouch will remain on their person and locked for the duration of the event. Before leaving, students will need to sign out with teachers where the pouch will be unlocked. To attend: Students will be required to make their own way to and from the event.
Students will need to arrive in front of the Australian Space Discovery Centre by 9:50am to sign in. Teachers will be wearing their red Open Access College lanyards. Students will be dismissed from the MOD atrium by 2:00pm.
Financial assistance is available for students where Open Access College is the enrolling school and who live 80km from Adelaide CBD to attend face to face events.
