Students Shine in Premier’s Reading Challenge STEM Competition

We are thrilled to share the exciting news that three of our students have been recognised in the 2025 Premier’s Reading Challenge STEM Competition! This optional competition, promoted and encouraged by our library staff, aims to inspire a love of reading through creative and innovative opportunities that link literature with STEM concepts.

This year, the competition received 2,760 entries from across South Australia. A panel of judges selected just 44 outstanding entries for awards across four themes: STEM, Space, Nature, and Renewable Energy.

Among those 44 winners were three outstanding students from Open Access College and SOTA—a fantastic achievement considering the scale of the competition.

  • Nehemiah H (Reception–Year 2)Winner in the Renewable Energy theme

  • Catherine S (Years 3–5)Winner in the Renewable Energy theme

  • Jeremiah H (Years 3–5)Runner-up in the Renewable Energy theme

Between OAC and SOTA, we had a total of 12 voluntary entries—each a reflection of the enthusiasm and talent of our students. We are incredibly proud of everyone who participated and especially of Nehemiah, Catherine, and Jeremiah for their creativity and dedication. These students will receive their prizes in due course.

Congratulations to all involved!
