Students who have an interest in robotics, programming and creating electro-mechanical products. Mechatronics can lead to future career pathways in Electrical & Mechanical Trades, Computer Science and various fields of Engineering, including Mechatronics as a specialisation.
Students will learn the fundamentals of Electrical and Mechanical Systems. Students will explore electronic circuits, hydraulic & pneumatic systems as well as common mechanisms. Students will construct electronic circuits and also develop basic C+ Code using Arduino Microcontrollers for the control of simple electro-mechanical systems. Students will apply these skills in a Major Product that will focus on the integration of multiple systems to create movement and force.
Assessment Type 1: Specialised Skills Task 40%
Assessment Type 2: Design Process and Solution 60%
