Who is this course for?

This course is for students who start learning Spanish at the senior secondary level. Students need to confirm that they have little or no prior knowledge of the Spanish language.

Enrollment depends on meeting the eligibility criteria set by the SACE Board and is pending upon submitting an eligibility form.

This course progresses at an accelerated and intensive rate. Students are expected to develop their skills and intercultural competency quickly.

Completing this course opens a pathway to Stage 1 Spanish Beginners B and Stage 2 Spanish Beginners.

What will I learn?

Students are expected to develop and apply their linguistic and intercultural knowledge, understanding, and skills to:

  1. interact with others in Spanish in interpersonal situations
  2. create texts in Spanish for specific audiences, purposes, and contexts
  3. analyse texts that are in Spanish to interpret meaning.
  • The Personal World
  • The Spanish-speaking Communities

How will I be assessed?

Students will demonstrate evidence of their learning through the following assessment types:

  • Assessment Type 1: Interaction
  • Assessment Type 2: Text Production
  • Assessment Type 3: Text Analysis

It is recommended that students have their own bilingual hardcopy dictionary.
