Who is this course for?
Love being creative and finding new ways to share ideas? This course is for students who enjoy storytelling, symbolism, illustration and experimenting with art.
Across two exciting units, you’ll explore a range of different mediums and techniques, from traditional mediums such as drawing and painting to experimental approaches and digital image manipulation. You’ll have the freedom to choose the materials and processes that best bring your ideas and messages to life.
What will I learn?
- Street Art: Messages & Meaning
Explore the bold world of street art and graffiti, including Banksy and Keith Haring. Discover how symbolism and juxtaposition communicate powerful ideas, experiment with stencil techniques, and create your own meaningful street-inspired artwork.
- Narrative Art
Bring ideas, memories and imagination to life through visual storytelling. Explore a range of media and techniques to create mood, atmosphere and imaginative artworks that tell a story.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment will be based on the Australian curriculum and the South Australian curriculum achievement standards.
Students will be assessed through:
- Folio
Weekly practical experimentation and development of ideas, exploring symbolism, stencil techniques, visual storytelling and a range of artistic mediums. Your folio will showcase your creative thinking, experimentation and development of ideas.
- Two Major Artworks
Create two finished artworks that demonstrate your ability to develop ideas, experiment with techniques and communicate meaning through visual art.
