Who is this course for?

Students with a focus on wellbeing and is divided into one core and three option topics. No background knowledge is assumed.

What will I learn

The topics are:

Ways of Defining Health (Core):

  • Definitions and components of health and wellbeing
  • Responsibility for health
  • Health literacy

Growing up healthy:

  • The relationship between physical activity and health
  • The relationship between food and health
  • The relationship between wellbeing and health

The Effects of Alcohol, Tobacco and other Drugs on Health:

  • Effects on individuals and communities
  • Harm minimisation and risk management

Health and Relationships:

  • Building safe and positive relationships
  • Family relationships and health
  • Friendships
  • Sexual relationships and health

This subject is a useful background for studying social issues and it is also useful to complete this course if you are interested in studying for Stage 2 Health Education.

How will I be assessed?

You will demonstrate evidence of your learning through the following assessment types:

  • Group Activity
  • Investigation
