Who is this course for?

This course can accommodate new students, or add to the skills developed in Semester 1, Robotic and Electronics Systems A (Mechatronics).

The course is suited to students who have an interest in robotics, programming and creating electro-mechanical products. Mechatronics can lead to future career pathways in Electrical & Mechanical Trades, Computer Science and various fields of Engineering, including Mechatronics as a specialisation.

What will I learn?

Students will learn how to design, construct, and test electro-mechanical products. Students will learn C+ code through an Arduino Microcontroller which they will then use to control their electro-mechanical product. Major Product examples include autonomous vehicles, automated pet feeders, alarm systems, automated safes, digital scoreboards and much more. Students will also develop skills in Computer Aided design, 3D Printing and Electronics Simulation to assist in the creation of their products.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment Type 1: Specialised Skills Task 40%

  • Electrical Fundamentals and Arduino Programming
  • Mechanical Systems Design including CAD & 3D Printing

Assessment Type 2: Design Process and Solution 60%

  • Design & construct an electro-mechanical product

Pre-requisite

None required

Cost

Some materials may need to be sourced depending on student project choices.
