Who is this course for?

Students who have an interest in robotics, programming and creating electro-mechanical products. Mechatronics can lead to future career pathways in Electrical & Mechanical Trades, Computer Science and various fields of Engineering, including Mechatronics as a specialisation.

What will I learn?

Students will learn the fundamentals of Electrical and Mechanical Systems. Students will explore electronic circuits and components as well as common mechanisms. Students will construct electronic circuits and also develop basic C++ Code using Arduino Microcontrollers for the control of simple electro-mechanical systems. Students will apply these skills in a Major Product that will focus on the integration of multiple systems to create movement and force.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment Type 1: Specialised Skills Task 40%

  • Electrical & Mechanical Systems Fundamentals
  • Arduino Programming Tutorials (controlling mechanical devices)

Assessment Type 2: Design Process and Solution 60%

  • Design & construct an electro-mechanical product

Pre-requisite
