Who is this course for?

Students who want to focus on children's growth and development from birth to 8 years. No background knowledge is assumed.

What will I learn?

In this course you will critically examine attitudes and values about parenting/care giving and gain an understanding of the growth and development of children.

Child Studies is divided into five Topics:

1. Contemporary and future issues
2. Economic and environmental influences
3. Political and legal influences
4. Sociocultural influences
5. Technological influences.

How will I be assessed?

You will demonstrate evidence of your learning through the following assessment types: Internal 70%

• Practical activity 50%
• Group activity 20%

External 30%

• Investigation 30%
