Who is this course for?

This course is for creative thinkers, curious makers and anyone who loves experimenting with art! If you enjoy trying new materials, getting hands-on and turning imaginative ideas into something real, this course is for you. Explore watercolour, pencil, paint and pastels in our Mixed Media unit, then dive into light, shadow and storytelling to create your own shadow puppets and characters. Perfect for students who love to experiment, take creative risks and have fun making art in unexpected ways!

What will I learn?

  • Experiment with mixed media by combining materials such as watercolour, pencil, paint, pastels and more.
  • Get hands-on and take creative risks as you explore different materials, techniques and unexpected ways of making art.
  • Explore light, shadow and storytelling to design and create your own shadow puppets, characters and imaginative artworks.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment will be based on Australian curriculum and South Australian curriculum achievement standards.

  1. Folio of Skills & Experiments
    Build a collection of weekly practical tasks exploring mixed media, different materials, techniques, light, shadow and visual storytelling. Your folio will show your experimentation, creative thinking and development of ideas.
  2. Three Major Artworks
    Create three finished artworks that demonstrate your ability to explore materials, develop creative ideas, and apply artmaking and storytelling techniques to communicate meaning.
