Who is this course for?
Love drawing, characters, colour, digital art, sculpture and pop culture? This course gives you the chance to explore the work of two very different artists and develop your own creative style.
What will I learn?
Character Design - Tim Burton
Step into the weird and wonderful world of Tim Burton! Explore how line, shape, proportion, exaggeration, facial features, colour and silhouette can create memorable characters full of personality.
Design your own original characters and then bring them to life in 3D using clay, plasticine, found objects, cardboard, recycled materials or whatever you can find at home. Experiment with different materials, shapes and textures to see how your character changes from a drawing into a sculpture.
Digital Art, Pattern & Pop Culture – Takashi Murakami
Explore the colourful, playful world of Takashi Murakami and his playful style. Discover how artists use colour, repetition, pattern, characters and popular culture to create instantly recognisable imagery.
Use Photoshop to transform your ideas into digital artworks and repeating patterns. Explore how Murakami blurs the boundaries between fine art and commercial art through fashion, products, collaborations and merchandise. You can even turn your own designs into a poster, sticker, clothing design, product or other commercial artwork.
Throughout the course, you'll experiment, create, remix and develop your own visual style using traditional materials and digital technology.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment will be based on the Australian Curriculum, Visual Arts achievement standard.
Students will be assessed through:
- Weekly creative skills and experiments
