Who is this course for?

This course provides an introduction to the field of health sciences, with a focus on allied health professions. Students will learn about the role of pathology in diagnosing and treating diseases and the use of alternative therapies in healthcare. The course also covers speech pathology and occupational therapy, including their principles and techniques. Students will gain a broad understanding of the healthcare industry and the various career paths available.

What will I learn?

You will:

How will I be assessed?

You will demonstrate evidence of your learning assessed as Stage 1 through the following assessment types:

  • Investigations Folio
  • Skills and Applications Tasks

Students complete four assessment tasks with a weighting of 25% each:

  • one practical completion and design investigation
  • one science as a human endeavor investigation
  • one analysis and interpretation task
  • one collaborative inquiry - group design
